We started urShelf, LLC in the Summer of 2003 because, as four college students, we knew how expensive and inconvenient it could be to purchase textbooks. We wanted to give students the flexibility to buy and sell books using search criteria that venture beyond typical title-author listings, allowing them to sort by campus or even course.
With just a few simple clicks, students can find the books they need and buy them at their preferred prices. Using urShelf.com, students get the best of both online book-buying worlds: they can opt either to buy their books at a fixed price or bid on them in an auction. Through this streamlined process, sellers can maximize the resale value of their books, and buyers can find texts at considerably reduced prices.
Because urShelf customizes the selling and buying processes for each student, users can use the site to watch books they are interested in buying, pre-list books they hope to sell (upon completion of a course, for example), and update their profiles so that their book buying and selling activities are tailored to their individual needs.
